Our Journey Begins
Sherry Propst, founder of Skilled Hearts, has always believed in the power of compassion, purpose, and human connection.
For 31 years, she poured her heart into teaching, dedicating her life to nurturing and empowering students—many of whom had special needs. It was in those classrooms, day after day, year after year, that she witnessed the extraordinary spirit, creativity, and resilience of these individuals. They weren’t just students; they were her inspiration, her teachers in their own right, and the spark behind a lifelong mission.
As Sherry’s career progressed, she began to see a painful truth: once these remarkable individuals aged out of the school system, many were left without the support, purpose, and opportunities they deserved. That realization weighed heavily on her heart and ignited a fire within her to take action.
Determined to make a lasting difference, Sherry founded Skilled Hearts—a place built on love, respect, and the unwavering belief that every person has something beautiful to offer. Through this organization, she continues to give back to the very community that shaped her life. Her passion runs deep, fueled by the laughter, struggles, and triumphs she shared with her students and friends. Skilled Hearts is her way of saying, “You matter. You belong. And the world is better because of you.”
